Wow! It's January 15, and the
pansies on my porch are still colorful even though they are covered with ice.
Unfortunately, the temperatures this week should finally zap them.

A number of our members signed up to enter
horticulture plantings in the District Flower Show to be held March. I will bring a copy of the current judges manual so all who are entering can review
characteristics of plants and what is necessary to have your plant in the
optimum condition. Also, I will have you
fill out entry information so that when the horticulture is entered in the
District Flower Show you will receive a free pass to the show.
Just a reminder that classes include container
grown [foliage or flowering], hanging, bulbs, orchids, dish gardens and
terrariums, cacti and succulents, bromeliads, forced branches, broadleaf
evergreens and needled evergreens.
If you have a plant in excellent condition, we
will find a class for it.
The Ford Field is a convenient place to visit
with parking very close by. I will take
entries for garden club members. It would be an excellent opportunity for a
carload of members to see an outstanding flower show with both horticulture
classes and outstanding artistic classes.
Give it a thought and plan your car pool.
