Thanks to all of you for electing me president and to all who have volunteered to serve as officers and committee chairs.  My theme will be "Live With Beauty" (as suggested by Martha Mullkoff).  I look forward to working with all of you and to enjoying the exciting programs that Chris Britts and Jan Dolan have scheduled.  In September we are fortunate to welcome the always enthusiastic and knowledgeable Janet Macunovich.  Janet is co-founder of the Practical Gardening Institute, a well-known author and columnist, and one of Michigan's gardening treasures.  She will speak to us about why, when, and how to give our gardens new life.

Despite wonderful weather, beautiful gardens, and excellent preparation by Betti Pool and her committee, attendance at our biennial garden walk was disappointing again.   Therefore, Betti, who has graciously volunteered to chair the next walk, will be moving the date to August when there is less competition from weddings, graduations, and other walks.

We were all saddened to learn of the death of Betti Pool's mother on July 8.

I was sorry to miss the July "Picnic on the Porch" but heard that it was a great success as always.

New member, Ethel Johnson, 34488 W. Nine Mile, Farmington 48335, 248-426-6735, was welcomed to the club.
